You can get free professional assistance on issues such as discipline, discrimination, termination, wage and hour, benefits, recordkeeping, workers’ compensation, compliance, etc. as they occur. Most importantly, we help you think through the intricate human resource problems that are a daily reality in every organization. We help you evaluate where you are and where you want to go.
Employee Handbooks
An employee handbook is an important tool of communication between you and your employees. It provides a written record of the many aspects of employer/employee responsibilities and interactions. It is also acts as a standard for managing workplace behavior necessary to maintain a good working relationship with employees. HEC makes available to members a clear, concise Sample Employee Handbook that meets regulatory requirements, and we can work with you to develop your own policy needs as an employer. If your company already has an employee handbook, we can review it.
Printing Handbooks
Once a final version is completed, your membership includes free printing of the handbooks, ensuring that you have as many copies as you need.
HR Compliance Review
Designed to help management personnel evaluate their human resource policies and procedures, the HR Compliance Review is a two-part questionnaire covering various aspects of HR management such as recruitment, hiring, compensation, recordkeeping, benefits, etc. The Review evaluates how well your company is in compliance with state and federal regulations. Completing the Review can give you an early warning of potential trouble spots, and we can give you recommendations and suggested changes to bring you into compliance.
Job Descriptions
Job descriptions are extremely important in the recruitment and selection process, in complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act and determining whether accommodations can be made, in training and developing employees, in clarifying performance evaluation criteria, and in compensation studies and planning. We can assist you in developing effective job descriptions, including essential job functions to ensure compliance with the ADA. Members can get sample job descriptions and our Guide to Job Descriptions.
Unemployment Insurance Appeals
Our HR professionals can present your case at an unemployment insurance appeal hearing. Working together with you, we will review your case, inform you about the unemployment claims process, and let you know what can be expected to happen at the hearing. If you wish to be the company’s spokesperson, we can help you prepare for the hearing.
