About HEC

Since 1943, Hawaii Employers Council (HEC) has served as the leading management resource to Hawaii’s employers, assisting thousands of businesses like yours with employment law guidance, human resources advice, and other information that’s needed to make informed employer decisions and reduce legal complications.

A private, nonprofit, membership employers group, HEC is dedicated to helping companies build and maintain collaborative employee relations. We offer a wide range of human resource and labor relations services, including consulting, training, pay rate information, personnel forms, policies and numerous resource publications.

Whether you have a simple question or a more complex issue at hand, we can help. With unlimited access to our human resource and labor relations professionals, you get easily understandable explanations and timely answers to your concerns. Membership in HEC is a cost effective way to protect your company.

Today, more than 800 companies across the state are members of HEC—small entrepreneurial operations as well as some of Hawaii’s largest employers. Both union and non-union companies representing a broad cross-section of industries rely on HEC experts and expertise. Members include local companies and national and international corporations with operations in Hawaii. Many have been HEC members for several decades.

When you join HEC, you and your company can expect to enjoy a lot of great benefits. Maybe best of all is that you know you have someone to turn to for assistance when you have questions about HR, labor issues, employment law and strategic planning.

You get the answers you need, when you need them. Assistance is just a phone call or email away. Membership includes unlimited access to our experienced professionals who can provide accurate answers to your employee relations questions and send you a copy of our relevant white papers or model guides to help you understand the matter.

We are Hawaii's one-stop source for expertise in human resource management, labor relations, government regulations, compensation and benefit survey data, and other information to give your company the tools it needs for a productive workforce. If you have a question, a compliance issue, a special HR project, or a training need, we will provide a solution. Why waste time searching when the answer is just a phone call away?

HEC's experts have themselves been HR managers, labor relations managers or mediators and are uniquely qualified to help members "think through" the complex personnel and labor problems that are a reality to every organization. No question is too large or small to warrant instant assistance. Our supervisory and management training includes case studies based on real workplace situations.

HEC membership is like adding an expert human resources and labor relations team to your organization. When you join us, you have access to the experienced professional staff and comprehensive services you need to help you create and maintain positive employer-employee relations.  Our experts, who include attorneys with a labor and employment law background, instantly bring depth and experience to help you with the day-to-day people challenges of managing a business.

Most HEC services are included in your membership, no matter how often you use them. There are no added costs. You can get assistance as often as you wish. You can call us with your questions, come to our office, or make an appointment for us to visit you. Without a "time-charge" structure to worry about, you’re free to spend the time you need to deal with each employee relations issue immediately and effectively.
