Obama Reverses Bush; Issues Three Union Friendly EOs for Federal Contractors

White House Federal contractors can no longer post a “Beck” notice informing employees that they cannot be required to join, or maintain membership in, a union in order to keep their jobs under an Executive Order issued by President Obama; instead, they will be required to post a notice informing workers of their rights under Federal labor laws, including their right to organize under the National Labor Relations Act. The Beck notice was a requirement under the Bush Administration.

President Obama also issued Executive Orders requiring successor service contractors to offer jobs to qualified employees of the previous company and prohibiting federal contractors from using taxpayer money to counter a union organizing effort in their workforce.
