Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle’s list of bills she will likely veto includes a number of bills that would be detrimental to local employers or businesses.

The list of intended vetoes includes legislation that would have prohibited employers from conducting or using credit history as a background check; required certain employers to recognize unions on the basis of signed authorization cards; required employers to pay for disputed workers compensation treatments; and required employers to offer health insurance coverage to employees who work 15 hours or more per week. It is now up to the State Legislature to decide whether to override any of the potential vetoes by July 15.
