Honolulu has seen a negative increase of the CPI-W (Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers) of -0.1 percent in the first half of 2009 compared to the first half of 2008 (when it was 5.1 percent), and a 0.3 percent increase in the CPI-U (All Urban Consumers) for the same period in 2009, compared to 4.9 percent in 2008.
