Final Rule on Federal Contractor Posting Requirement Issued

The U.S. Dept. of Labor has issued its final rule implementing President Obama’s Executive Order requiring most new federal contractors and subcontractors with whom they do business to post notices informing their employees of their rights as employees under federal labor laws, including their right to unionize.

The posting requirement only applies to contracts which are entered into or modified on June 21, 2010 and thereafter, and does not apply to contracts which result from a bid solicitation which was issued prior to June 21, 2010. It also does not apply to subcontracts for less than $10,000.

The DOL says it will be printing the required poster, including posters translated into other languages. Contractors will be provided the posters by the Federal contracting agency or may be obtained from the DOL, or downloaded from http://www.olms.dol.gov when it is available, the DOL says. Additionally, contractors may reproduce and use exact duplicate copies of the official poster, according to DOL.
