More Hawaii Companies to Raise Wages; Overall Median Increase at 2.0 Percent, HEC Survey Reveals

Hawaii median percentage increase is at 2.0 percent in 2011 compared to the U.S. average of 3.0 percent report by The Conference Board, according to HEC’s annual Salary Adjustment Survey. Projected median increases for 2012 show Hawaii at 2.0 percent as compared to the U.S. average projected increase of 3.0 percent.

Comparing data from 2006 to 2011, the Hawaii percentages for the most part have lagged behind the U.S. percentage increase amounts.

The Hawaii data also indicate in 2011 an increase of job categories reporting a wage increase, from 45.8 percent in 2010 to 60.4 percent in 2011. Projections for 2012 show an increase of job categories reporting a wage increase, from 58.1 percent in 2011 to 61.8 percent in 2012.

The 2011 Salary Adjustment Survey was conducted from July through early August 2011 and a total of 361 companies participated in the survey.
