New Fact Sheet on ADA and HIV/AIDs Issued by DOJ
The U.S. Department of Justice has released a new fact sheet called Questions and Answers: The Americans with Disabilities Act and Persons with HIV/AIDS, which explains the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The fact sheet also describes the ADA's requirements for state and local governments, employers, and businesses and non-profit agencies that serve the public.
The fact sheet describes some examples of prohibited employment discrimination against persons with HIV or AIDS, and discusses what is an essential function of the job, and the concept of reasonable accommodation.
