Hawaii Employers Reminded About Paid Voting Time Off

If an employee took time off to vote on August 11 for the Primary Election, or plans to take time off to vote on November 6 for the General Election, the company is obligated to provide paid time off if the employee does not have a free two-hour period (excluding lunch and breaks) in which to cast a ballot when the polls are open (7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.).

The State Elections Office has a factsheet for employers on the paid voting leave requirement.
