HEC members have the opportunity to learn how Hawaii’s health insurance exchange under the federal health insurance reform program can benefit the company’s offering of medical insurance coverage at a free morning briefing in the Kahili Meeting Room on November 2.

Hawaii’s health insurance exchange known as the Hawaii Health Connector is preparing for open enrollment by October 1, 2013 and will be fully functional by January 1, 2014. Coral T. Andrews, Executive Director of Hawaii Health Connector, will address frequently asked questions such as:

• What is the exchange?

• How will the exchange directly or indirectly impact employers?

• What kinds of health plans will be offered in the exchange?

• Will the cost of insurance offered through the exchange be the same as those offered outside of the exchange?

• How does the exchange interact with the Prepaid Health Care Act?
