HEC’s recent survey of turnover and sick time statistics for 2006 shows an upturn in the local turnover rate at 23 percent, compared to 21 percent in 2005, and less than 20 percent in 2004. Only 0.7 percent of the turnover in 2004 and 2005 was due to layoffs, compared to 1.5 percent in 2006. The last time turnover was more frequent and layoffs were a larger percent of turnover was in 2001.
