Mainland employers have long enjoyed the opportunity to offer high deductible health plans with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) to employees, giving them the opportunity to save and spend pretax dollars for their medical costs, even after the employee changes jobs or retires. This year, there are efforts at the Legislature to expand HSAs to Hawaii employers. In this free one-hour seminar, Terri O’Connell will explain:
- What is an HSA?
- How is an HSA different from a Health Reimbursement Arrangement or a Flexible Spending Arrangement?
- What are the pros and cons of offering HSAs from the perspective of both the employers and employees?
- Are there any ACA or Prepaid Healthcare Act concerns associated with offering HSAs?
- If an employer wanted to support Hawaii employer group HSAs, what should they do?
