It’s no secret that social media is a powerful and effective way to communicate in today’s world.  For companies small or large it can be a great tool to spread the word about a product or connect with customers.  As an employer, however, we often forget about Social Media as a way to help us with internal efforts such as recruitment or to solidify our brand to help with employee engagement and loyalty.

Learn from social media guru Melissa Chang and communications expert Amanda Corby Noguchi how to maximize your use of social media as an employer beyond just pushing product.

In this session, you will learn:

  • What social media consist of, the different platforms of communication, and social media trends;
  • Advantages and challenges of using social media as a communication platform;
  • Tips on how to grow your following and engage an audience with effective content and messaging; and
  • Ideas for using social media as an employer for recruitment and employee engagement.

This class is geared for those who may already have a foundational knowledge of social media, and are looking to grow their use and hone their skills in this area.

About Our Speakers

Melissa Chang
is best known for her blog on FrolicHawaii.com, but that’s just her hobby. She has more than 25+ years’ experience in marketing and public relations, including work with Starr Seigle Communications, as the Marketing Director for Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties, and as the Marketing Director of Aloha Tower Marketplace. Her real job is with AdStreamz, specializing in integrating the new social media with traditional media to maximize clients’ marketing efforts. The company manages social media for various Hawaii companies, including Pearlridge Center, Aloha Kia, Embassy Suites, Chart House, Ichiriki, Chart House Waikiki, Island Insurance, Kailua Town Center, Farm Lovers markets, Ben & Jerry’s, A&B Hawaii, and Goma Tei, to name a few.

Amanda Corby Noguchi is a mother of two, co-founder of the Pili Group LLC, and founder and Creative Director of Under my Umbrella (UMU), one of the premier communications and event production companies in Hawaii.  Launched in 2009, UMU remains laser-focused on elevating the work of small, community-run organizations who seek to make the world a little bit better every day.  In 2013, Amanda also founded Pili Group LLC, her most ambitious project to date, with life and business partner Chef Mark Noguchi. Pili Group is dedicated to creating a world of food with integrity, and has                             garnered national attention for its role in preserving and uplifting native Hawaiian culture.
