9181054 An Innovative Approach to Self-Insuring Medical Plans that Works for Any Employer in Hawaii
October 23, 2018 | 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Atlas Insurance Agency and Elevate Captives are pleased to present an Introduction on Self-Funding and Captives.  While Hawaii employers remain committed to providing a robust benefit package to recruit and retain best in class talent, as benefit costs increase, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain competitive employer paid benefits.  As a result, employers are looking toward alternate funding arrangements to reduce costs and improve control over their program.

Bonnie Pang, Senior Vice President/Manager Employee Benefits for Atlas Insurance Agency will open the program with an overview of benefit design trends in the Hawaii marketplace and how we compare to mainland peers.  The presentation will also include a comparison of the prevalence of self-funding in Hawaii vs. the mainland. Ryan Ralston and Jerry Messick with Elevate Captives will discuss the fundamentals of self-funding and the benefits of a captive arrangement for Hawaii employers. Frank Valenti, Risk Consultant for Atlas Insurance Agency will close the program with a discussion on why a proactive risk management approach is important to the long term performance of your program.  Frank will explain the connection between work and health, and explore the benefits of loss control and wellness programs.

Intended audience:  CFO, Controller, Risk Management Director, Vice President-Human Resources, Human Resources Director.
