Stories, the power of stories.  They can inspire us and they can teach us.   If you want to experience something different and inspirational which teaches lessons for making a positive difference, then here’s the story for you.

In an engaging storytelling presentation, Marty Brounstein delivers such an inspirational and educational story conveyed from his book Two Among the Righteous Few: A Story of Courage in the Holocaust.  It’s a true story about a Christian couple in the Netherlands named Frans and Mien Wijnakker, who despite great risk and danger, saved the lives of over two dozen Jews from certain death during World War II and the Holocaust.  Marty also has a meaningful personal connection to the story and its heroes, which he reveals in his heartfelt presentation.

After engaging with the story directly, the workshop promotes discussion exploring the following topics:

  • What lessons about doing the right thing and making a positive difference can you take away from this story and apply in your work life today, let alone your personal life?
  • For managers in particular, what leadership practices and behaviors can you do that truly make a positive difference?

About Our Speakers:
In simple terms, Marty Brounstein is the humble messenger for two real heroes, not the misused term hero that often gets attached to entertainment celebrities and sports stars.  Audiences have often told Marty that he is an author on a journey with a mission, the mission being to touch people’s hearts and stir their minds about the lessons we can all learn for our lives today from this special story.  He represents Frans and Mien Wijnakker out of the Netherlands who at one time during their lives made a very positive difference, one for which he is eternally grateful.

Marty is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and for 25 years ran the management consulting firm The Practical Solutions Group, serving a variety of clients across many industries in the areas of leadership and organizational effectiveness.  He has also been an adjunct faculty member with the Executive MBA Program at St. Mary’s College, CA.

Now in his 8th year of a journey in sharing this inspirational story in his home base and in a number of cities around the country, Marty has presented in a wide variety of venues from places of faith, service, and education but also at workplace meetings and professional conferences, including the League of California Cities City Managers and City Clerks’ Conferences and Major League Baseball Human Resources’ Conference plus in workplace meetings such as at Kaiser Permanente, AT&T, Meyer Corporation, and several city and county governments.  In fact, it was one of Marty’s clients from his consulting business who suggested he take this inspirational story into the professional meeting venue because of its lessons and relevance for our work lives today.

Marty’s name is attached to eight published books from contributing author to sole author, including Coaching and Mentoring For Dummies, Communicating Effectively For Dummies, and Managing Teams For Dummies.  His 9th book is quite different and special, with messages that promote doing the right thing and making a positive difference.
