Transform: HECís Organizational Effectiveness Program

Gallup’s recent “State of the American Workplace” study reports that only 35% of Hawaii’s workforce is engaged at work, and that actively disengaged employees cost the U.S. $483 billion to $605 billion each year in lost productivity.  On the converse, studies show that organizations with engaged employees realize many benefits, including improved business outcomes, increased employee loyalty and lower turnover.  Despite these positive outcomes, many organization leaders believe they do not have the time or resources to work on employee engagement initiatives.  There is another way to look at it, however, and a more appropriate question may be whether your organization afford not to address the challenge presented by having 65% of your workforce disengaged each day?  The opportunity cost resulting from such decreased productivity alone is justification to look more closely at this issue, and Hawaii Employers Council has made it easier than ever to get started.

HEC is pleased to introduce Transform: HEC’s Organizational Effectiveness Program.  The program is complimentary for eligible HEC members, although customization through add-on services is also available.

Transform is not the usual employee engagement offering, focused solely on surveying employees and providing findings reports.  While having relevant data is an important first step, organizations must develop a strategy to act on that data to improve organizational effectiveness.  To that end, HEC’s program was designed to take a more comprehensive approach by providing support in the interpretation of results and additional learning opportunities in key areas.  The goal of this effort is to ignite your organization’s transformation through informed action.

The program consists of:

  • An Organizational Effectiveness Survey that will run online between July 9 and July 27

Employees will easily be able to access the survey from a computer, phone or tablet.  They will provide opinions on a range of topics related to their workplace experiences. Paper survey distribution is also available for a fee.

After the survey period ends, survey participants will receive a detailed feedback report with results presented by breakouts, as well as information on top drivers and distractors of engagement, comparison of results with Hawaii and National norms, and more.

  • A Survey Briefing Session on August 23

This session will provide survey participants with the opportunity to review and understand the feedback report and overall aggregate data that they receive.

  • Three Facilitated Learning Circle Sessions in September

These sessions will help survey participants understand key drivers and root causes of the three most common workplace challenges survey participants face, as reported in the 2018 survey report, as well as offering specific strategies to address them.  The intention of these learning circles is for participants to walk away with an action plan for moving forward.

Sound good?  Registration will run from May 7 to June 5 and is open to every organization that:

  • Is an active member in good standing with HEC for the duration of the 2018 Organizational Effectiveness Program period (May 1, 2018 – October 1, 2018);
  • Has a minimum of 20 full-time employees working in Hawaii; and
  • Is committed to improving employees’ work experience, creating an engaged workforce, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
