Posted Tuesday, July 9, 2019 6:25 am

The U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”) recently announced new “plain-language, user-friendly” compliance assistance materials to help employers, workers, and other stakeholders understand their responsibilities and their rights under federal labor law.

  • Presentations: The Wage and Hour Division (“WHD”) added a number of PowerPoint presentations to its website, covering topics such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”), federal child labor requirements, and employers’ responsibilities to provide rest breaks and proper facilities for nursing mothers.  The presentations include links to additional resources and related information, including plain-language videos.
  • Handy Reference Guide to the Fair Labor Standards Act: The WHD released an enhanced digital version of the Handy Reference Guide to the Fair Labor Standards Act, which provides basic WHD information and links to other resources.
  • Compliance Assistance Toolkits: The WHD also recently added electronic Compliance Assistance Toolkits to its website, providing compliance information on specific programs and industries for download or distribution.  Topics include FMLA, Government Contracts, Quick Service Restaurants, and Resort and Hotel.
