New Website to Help Hawaii’s Small Businesses

Posted Tuesday, November 5, 2019 6:25 am

The Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism’s Small Business Regulatory Review Board (“SBRRB”) recently launched a new website to create an informative, interactive, user-friendly communication tool to assist Hawaii’s small business community.  The website offers various resources, including a section to request a review of a rule or regulation burdening your business.

The SBRRB is an eleven-member board comprised of small business owners and officers from across the State.  Its main activities include reviewing and making recommendations to State and County agencies on any proposed new or amended administrative rules and responding to small business requests for assistance with administrative rules.  The SBRRB’s monthly meetings are open to the public.  The next meeting is on Thursday, November 21, 10:00 a.m.

Feature of the Month:

Summary of Independent Contractor Laws

Classification of an individual as an employee or independent contractor is complex and nuanced, and there are serious consequences if it is not done properly.
