Over the past month the Hawaii Employers Council (HEC) has provided a series of groundbreaking training offerings for our Membership. In response to requests from our members, over successive weeks, HEC has provided three training events empowering attendees with information and tools to empower leaders for multigenerational success, creating change that sticks and forge deeper connections with their teams.
On April 15, HEC welcomed back Kristin Scroggin of genWhy Communications. Kristin was introduced to the HEC membership during her Keynote speech during HEC’s annual meeting in November 2023. After wowing our membership, board, and staff, it was an easy decision to bring her back for a more in-depth session to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of embracing generational differences for effective collaboration and organizational success. Kristin’s workshop offered insights into recruitment and retention strategies tailored to attract the next generation of talent. She offered practical strategies and insight to foster healthy organizational growth and inclusive work environments that harness the talents of each generation.
A few days later, Claudia Crist, President of Kalaukia Enterprises, shared her knowledge in an applied learning workshop titled “Creating Change that Sticks: From Theory and Lessons Learned to Practical Application for your Organization.” In Claudia’s workshop participants were taught how to:
- Understand the critical elements of change leadership and common change management frameworks.
- Examine the human behavioral aspects of change and why it is so critical to “get it right.”
- Examine lessons learned from case examples from local, national, and global firms.
- Apply concepts learned to relatable scenarios.
- Practice newly learned skills by populating a change leadership plan template that addresses actual challenges participants are currently facing in their organization.
- Connect with like-minded leaders and peers for future idea exchange and collaboration.
In the finale of this series of training offerings, on May 2, Evan Leong, CEO of Brain Gain Hawaii, EK Ventures, and Greater Good Inc., presented avenues to transform individual leadership styles, leading to more connected and cohesive teams. With a focus on appreciating teams to boost morale, improving recognition skills, and expressing gratitude, Evan helped participants use interpersonal connections to improve the results of their teams.
The Hawaii Employers Council remains dedicated to providing innovative training opportunities for our members and continues its mission to promote collaborative employee relations that result in skilled, engaged, and effective workforces. We look forward to new training opportunities and engaging with our Membership.
