
HEC is excited to host our HR Bootcamp: Building a Foundation in HR again in April! HR Bootcamp is a series of HR training classes designed specifically for new HR professionals or professionals new to HR! This unique series will not only introduce attendees to fundamental HR concepts but also provide an invaluable opportunity to build professional relationships with other “new to HR” professionals. This series is also ETF approved. This means that both members and non-members can attend Bootcamp at a discounted price!

Day 1: In person at the Hawaii Employers Council
Wednesday, April 9, 2025, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Welcome to the HR Bootcamp series! In this course, we will cover the fundamental aspects of key employment and wage & hour laws, including non-discrimination laws, Title VII protections, disability laws, and wage & hour regulations. During this in-person session, you'll also have the valuable opportunity to network with fellow new-to-HR professionals in a safe environment that will help as you navigate your HR career.
Day 2: Zoom
Wednesday, April 16, 2025, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
This virtual course will dive into the hiring process, covering everything from creating job descriptions and job postings to recruiting, interviewing, and crafting offer letters. Additionally, we'll explore effective onboarding strategies and review common employee benefits.
Day 3: Zoom
Wednesday, April 23, 2025, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
This virtual course offers a comprehensive overview of employee leave laws, including FMLA, HFLL, USERRA, and other types of employee leave, which provides you with the essential knowledge to manage employee leave and benefits effectively. We’ll also provide guidance regarding performance management, performance improvement plans, and discipline to set you up for success in managing employees.
Day 4: In person at the Hawaii Employers Council
Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Welcome to the final day of your HR Bootcamp series! During this in-person course, you'll have plenty of opportunities to interact with your peers. This course offers an overview of dealing with employee complaints, explains the process of conducting employee investigations, addresses employee separations, explores how HR professionals play a key role in shaping the workplace to become an “employer of choice,” and shares insight into the potential uses of AI in HR. Your HR Bootcamp series will conclude with a celebration of your journey through the program!
This series is only offered as a complete series of 4 and limited to the first 40 registrants.
