Celebrating 80 Years of Building Better Workplaces Together

Message from the President & CEO:

In business, as in life, we celebrate milestones in honor of history and tradition. Since August 18, 1943, HEC has been a testament to resilience, adaptability, and unwavering dedication to our community. Reaching the 80-year mark in business is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and unwavering dedication to our community. In an environment where only 25% of new businesses reach their 15th Anniversary; HEC’s celebration of 80 exceptional years stands as a symbol of deep pride and perseverance. Our longevity has been possible only with the committed support of our members – every one of you is an essential chapter in our journey.

A special mahalo to our active Charter Members: Alexander & Baldwin, Bank of Hawaii, Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc./Hawaiian Electric Company, Castle & Cooke Hawaii, Dole Food Company Hawaii, First Hawaiian Bank, Hawaii Agriculture Research Center, Hawaii Stevedores, Inc., Matson, Inc., and McCabe Hamilton & Renny Co., Ltd.

As we appreciate the visionaries who recognized the need for effective workplaces in our community, thus laying the foundation for the HEC, we turn our attention to a future fueled by their legacy.

Our next chapter is full of potential as we look for new ways to support our members and help make work better in Hawaii. We continue to be directed by our mission to be the premier provider of innovative and effective solutions for employers' needs today and into the future. To that end, we’re focused on:

  1. Engaging: We’re coming alongside our membership to understand the needs of today’s evolving workforce in Hawaii. Through trusted partnerships, our team of experts is delivering core HR services through a proactive, flexible membership model.
  2. Empowering: We’re hearing that HR needs have evolved, and our solutions are adapting to keep pace. Through an expanded suite of talent management solutions and consulting services, we’re enabling our members' success.
  3. Co-Learning: We’re convening our members around timely and relevant HR topics to drive innovation. Our local employment data and best practices support members' decision-making and resilience in this fast-changing environment.

As we embark on this new era, we are excited about the promising future filled with innovation, growth, and enduring success. Mahalo for your support and continued partnership. Cheers to making work better for the next 80 years!

Warmly,
Sarah

About the 80th Anniversary Logo
The logo incorporates the infinity sign where the number “80” is italicized. The italicized number provides an element of motion to symbolize moving forward. The “0” also has the HEC logo within it to bring recognition to the brand and the Hawaii Employers Council’s past accomplishments. The color Ruby Red is often used as a symbol of an 80th Anniversary.
