1) Enhancing Leadership through Emotional Intelligence
Wednesday, June 5, 2024 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
The role of today’s manager has evolved far beyond simple task management; in order to inspire and lead high-performing teams, now more than ever, managers must actively seek to shift to a people-focused mindset in order to foster positive relationships, create a supportive work environment, and support employee well-being.
This course is designed to act as the foundation for managerial success through the lens of emotional intelligence. Throughout this session, participants will deep-dive into the different facets of emotional intelligence: its impact in the workplace, how to cultivate and maintain trusting relationships, and how today’s managers can effectively utilize emotional intelligence not only to understand their own personal tendencies and enhance their self and social awareness, but also to manage their own professional image and outward perception.
2) The Human-Centered Approach to Change
Wednesday, June 5, 2024 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Change is inevitable in the business world, and businesses that struggle to adapt, struggle to succeed. Whether that change is big or small, managers often find themselves leading the charge in supporting organizational changes with their teams. Understanding how to navigate change effectively is paramount for today’s managers, as your approach could be the difference between acceptance or rejection amongst your team.
Throughout this course, managers will gain deeper insight into key concepts surrounding change management that will allow them to manage change proactively, minimize resistance, and foster a positive and resilient workforce. Topics will include the significance of change adoption, change management principles, as well as supporting your team to embrace change to achieve business objectives.
3) Strategic Alignment of Goals
Wednesday, June 12, 2024 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
In order to stay competitive, organizations must ensure that every effort they take contributes directly to their long-term success. Managers play a large role in this, as they are responsible for ensuring there is a strategic alignment of goals between the organization and their own teams; without this alignment, efforts become disjointed and may not necessarily support the organization’s objectives, resulting in wasted time and resources.
Throughout this session, managers will learn the significance of cascading goals and how to effectively break down high-level visions into actionable targets, ensuring each team member understands how their contribution supports the organization’s objectives. In addition, managers will also explore the SMART goal-setting framework, the power of purpose-driven goals, as well as the distinctions between individual development plans and performance improvement plans.
4) Coaching with a Growth Mindset
Wednesday, June 12, 2024 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Many businesses are discovering that the new key to organizational success depends on individual engagement, growth, and performance. Making this realization into reality calls for a very different approach than the "command-and-control" mentality of the past; rather, it calls for an approach where managers support and guide their teams, helping them to unlock and realize their full potential.
In this course, managers will learn the role a growth mindset plays in being able to effectively coach. Participants will explore the art of coaching through the examination of coaching techniques and practical application to empower others to critically think through solutions and resolutions. Understanding how to coach will enable you to help your employees achieve personal growth and development.
5) Navigating Employment Law
*Thursday, June 20, 2024 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. *Day change due to Juneteenth Holiday on Wednesday, June 19
In order to safely navigate the ever-evolving business landscape we work in, it is paramount that managers remain committed to staying informed and knowledgeable about employment law in order to safeguard their employees, their organization, and themselves.
This course takes managers beyond the basics presented in our Fundamentals of Supervision Series, building from the foundational concepts and areas that govern employment law and moving to an in-depth understanding of and best practices regarding state and federal employment laws. Throughout this session, managers will have the opportunity to explore various legal complexities within the workplace, the details surrounding different employment laws, and how to mitigate risks proactively to foster a fair and compliant workplace. (Recommended Prerequisite: Introduction to Employment Law from the Fundamentals of Supervision Series)
6) Strategies for Effective Time Management
*Thursday, June 20, 2024 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. *Day change due to Juneteenth Holiday on Wednesday, June 19
Time is one of the most valuable assets in the business world, yet today’s managers are finding themselves carrying more responsibility than ever within their organizations. With only so many hours in the day, managers need an edge when it comes to prioritizing their tasks, optimizing their workloads, and getting results.
Through an interactive learning experience specifically designed with managers in mind, Strategies for Effective Time Management is a course that seeks to equip managers with effective time management skills; participants will discover the underlying factors that hinder productivity, explore practical strategies to avoid procrastination, and learn proven techniques such as prioritization and delegation to help optimize their time and efficiency.
