FAQs
Why is the certification 40 hours?
The course is accredited through the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC), which requires the full 40 hours and a passing exam score for accreditation.
Why is there an exam?
For the same reason above, the CSSC requires a proctored exam with a passing score to achieve certification.
When is the exam and what is the passing score?
The exam will happen on Day 5 of the course, August 1, 2025. A passing score is 80 and above. The exam covers all content and curriculum of the 40-hour course.
Is there a virtual option?
No, not currently. All classes are in person only.
Do I have to attend all 5 sessions?
Yes, in-person attendance is required for 5 days. If an unexpected event occurs, we will work with the situation as best as possible.
What do I need to attend the certification?
Participants will need to have the time approved by their manager. All participants should bring their laptop, with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint preferred. All other materials will be provided.

Member Success Stories:
- Joe did a FANTASTIC job facilitating this course. It was A LOT of knowledge to be thrown at us in a "short" amount of time, and he executed that PERFECTLY. His real-world experiences and wisdom were enough to keep us interested, keep the content-relation fresh, and relevant.
- Joe is great! Turns what could be boring content into a really fun learning experience. He does a fantastic job at using his real world experience to bring life to the course. He also creates a safe environment for folks to feel like they can speak up and discuss the material openly.
- Joe was very helpful and most importantly engaging with participants. He made everyone feel comfortable and valued. Truly an asset to HEC.
- Joe was a great instructor who is passionate about what he does and he was very open, honest, welcomed continuous feedback and questions at all times.
- Thank you so much, Joe! This was a great learning experience. Your way of teaching made everything easy to understand. I really liked the stories you shared, they helped me see how to use the tools in real life. Thanks again!
- Joe had great and relevant stories to share with the class and was generous in his time and sharing of examples and templates. I appreciated the "extra" content that was included (emotional intelligence, social styles, change management and 5S). The change management was a little confusing sharing multiple models and overlaying information on top of that at the end (though it did result in good visuals). Some change management templates would have been helpful. I would recommend this course to others - at least the Waste and 5S courses for those new to continuous improvement.
- Mahalo to Joe for his knowledge and expertise in this field can't wait for more of our team members get to experience so we can grow and help each other grow to become the employer of choice.
- Joe was very knowledgeable about the subject matter and was able to convey information in an informative yet approachable manner. He had many good examples and used those to great effect.
