As part of an ongoing effort to update regulations, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has commenced direct final rulemaking to update references to ANSI consensus standards in regulations containing specifications for accident prevention signs and tags, among other things.
Under OSHA's proposal, general industry and construction employers would have the option of complying with either the older or more recent ANSI standards on safety color codes marking hazards and certain equipment, as well as specifications for accident prevention signs and tags. The agency believes these rule changes will be noncontroversial, and will implement a final rule later this fall unless it receives significant adverse comments on or before July 15, 2013. Read more.
