New FAQs on Section 503 and VEVRAA Regulations Now Available

Published Monday, November 25, 2013 4:24 pm

The office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has made new Frequently Asked Questions available on its website to address concerns that have been raised after publication of new regulations implementing Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 503) and the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (VEVRAA).

The new Section 503 FAQs address a range of issues regarding general implementation concerns, data collection analysis, and vacancy announcement taglines. For example, the OFCCP has clarified that the Scheduling Letter need not be amended to specifically require that contractors provide new data and information required under the Final Rule, as the current format for the Scheduling Letter is sufficient to incorporate these new requirements into it.

In addition to FAQs on the foregoing issues, the new VEVRAA FAQs also provide additional information on hiring benchmarks. For example, the FAQs clarify that a contractor should apply the VEVRAA benchmark to the total workforce at each establishment, as opposed to each job group in each establishment.
