E-Verify now has the capability of putting a lock on Social Security Numbers that appear to be fraudulently used.
These new fraud-detection features will enable the E-Verify system to flag circumstances suggesting that an individual may be attempting to gain work authorization through the improper use of a Social Security Number. In such cases, a "Tentative Nonconfirmation" will be issued to the employee, who will have the opportunity to contest the finding at a local Social Security Administration office. If the employee provides proper identity confirmation, E-Verify will then be updated to show that the worker's employment has been authorized.
