EEOC increases Fines for Failure to Post Notices

Published Thursday, March 27, 2014 5:43 pm

On April 18, 2014, covered employers failing to post a notice regarding employee rights under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 will face a penalty of up to $210 for each separate offense.  In a final rule published in the March 19 Federal Register, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission explained that the penalty increased from $110 to $210 is in accordance with the Federal Civil Monetary Penalty Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990.  To ensure that they are compliant with the EEOC's posting requirements, HEC members should contact the Council to confirm that they have the proper notices posted.  EEOC Poster Regulation
