USCIS to Purge Older E-Verify Records in January of 2015

Published Thursday, November 13, 2014 6:21 pm

Beginning January 1, 2015, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) will commence disposal of E-Verify records 10 years old and older to minimize personal privacy risks.  The agency will dispose of records that last had transactions on or before December 31, 2004.  To retain E-Verify case information, employers may download and save a "Historic Records Report," which contains information about transactions for E-Verify cases created on or before December 31, 2004.

Historic Records Reports will be available on the E-Verify website until December 31, 2014.

Moving forward, USCIS will dispose of E-Verify records annually.  For example, on January 1, 2016, the agency will dispose of records created on or prior to December 31, 2005.  E-Verify employers should plan accordingly to preserve case information as needed.  Click to see the E-Verify Records Disposal Fact Sheet and Download Historic Records Reports
