Fifty-eight restaurant employees will receive back pay in a settlement with two restaurants operating in Boise, Idaho. The payments result from improper practices, including paying employees for overtime at straight time rates instead time and a half. The restaurants also misclassified managers as exempt from overtime, while paying them at hourly ? instead of salaried ? rates. Minimum wage requirements went unmet due to reductions in server pay to pay for uniforms. To remedy these improper practices, the restaurants will pay more than $26,000 in back wages to 58 employees.
