One of the toughest tasks for HR professionals and management level employees to do is remain up-to-date and compliant with the ever-changing landscape of federal and state labor and employment laws that govern the workplace here in Hawaii. Therefore, the Hawaii Employers Council has developed a comprehensive toolkit, called the "HR Practices Review," to assist employers in (1) confirming which areas of the law they are in compliance with and (2) determining whether there are other areas of the law that need to be explored further.
The "HR Practices Review" consists of two parts which run through a series of questions on the following issues:
Part I
Recruitment
Hiring
Compensation
FLSA and Wage & Hour Law
Required Posters
Miscellaneous
Part II
Child Labor
Employee Benefits
Employee Relations
Discipline and Termination
Recordkeeping
Government Contracts
By utilizing the HR Practices Review, employers can help reduce their risk of litigation and administrative complaints that may stem from an outdated practice or policy.
Employers can also work with an HEC consultant in reviewing the results of the HR Practices Review to help gain further insight on areas that are in compliance or require further analysis.
