In the October 2016 edition of HEC TV, Carrie Takahama, Sr. HR Consultant at Hawaii Employers Council, discusses how employers can create a work environment that supports nursing mothers in the workplace, as well as common situations confronting employers.  Included in her discussion are the Federal and State laws requiring employers to provide reasonable break periods to nursing mothers.

 

As a Senior HR Consultant, Carrie regularly assists HEC members with HR compliance issues, employee relations, HR practices, and document reviews. She regularly conducts training classes on a variety of topics, including harassment, employment laws, performance management, and supervisory skills.

 

Carrie received her Bachelor of Education with an emphasis in physical education, health and recreation from the University of Hawaii.  She is a member of the local and national chapters of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and has earned the PHR and SHRM-CP designations.  Carrie currently serves on the Hawaii Women in Lodging & Tourism Advisory Council.
