Hawaii Employers Council is pleased to welcome Derek Kanehira as Vice President and Director of HR Services.  Derek joins HEC with more than 27 years of experience in Human Resources in various industries including insurance, airline, food service, and a start-up IT company.  Prior to joining HEC, Derek served as Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Hawaii National Bank, where he was responsible for strategic oversight of all human resource and organizational development initiatives.

 

Derek is actively involved in the community and currently serves as President of Hawaii Compensation Group, Director of Hawaii Business Health Council, Foundation & Research Committee Chair of SHRM Hawaii, Advisory Board Member of McKinley High School's Academy of Finance, and Advisory Member of Ceridian's Executive Advisory Council.  Additionally, Derek has been involved in corporate worksite wellness for over 10 years and currently holds a Faculty designation from Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) and Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist (CCWS) designation from the Corporate Health and Wellness Association.
