In August of 1943, 70 of the state’s major businesses founded the Hawaii Employers Council (“HEC”), as a membership organization dedicated to improving labor and personnel relations. Our founders believed that local companies could develop stronger, more effective workforces, by improving collective bargaining practices, developing better human resource strategies, and using workforce data to understand and meet the needs of employees.
HEC is now entering its 75th year of helping Hawaii employers grow and thrive. We provide support with employment law compliance, human resources consultation and training, wage and benefit survey data, collective bargaining, leadership and organizational development training, and much more. Through training, seminars, and expert consultation, we can help employers develop the potential of their human capital.
During this 75th anniversary year, we will be holding events to celebrate this milestone with our members. But although we are proud of our 75 years of service to Hawaii’s business community, our focus is on the future. We are working to continually improve our services, and help members cope with a rapidly-changing business environment. We know that our success depends on your success.
