In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month observed in October, Employment First Hawaii and Disability:IN Hawaii are organizing an event, “The Right Talent, Right Now.” Employers who have hired people with disabilities and/or are interested in hiring people with disabilities are invited to attend. The event will include:
- Employers and state legislators sharing their stories
- A public service announcement highlighting the significant value and talent individuals with disabilities add to our workforce, especially during this time of historically low unemployment
- A reverse job fair
What is a reverse job fair?
Unlike a typical job fair where employers display information about their company and wait for candidates to approach their booth, a reverse job fair puts the spotlight on the job seeker. Job seekers with disabilities set up booths with a tri-fold poster board containing highlights of their degrees, accomplishments, and achievements. Employers walk around to meet job seekers and see what type of talent they have to offer.
