HCRC Guidance on Returning to the Workplace

Published Tuesday, June 23, 2020 4:00 pm

On June 19, the Executive Director of the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission issued a letter confirming that during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, employers may implement the following three medical examinations or inquiries:

  1. asking employees entering the workplace whether they have any COVID-19 symptoms;
  2. measuring employees’ body temperature; and
  3. administering an accurate and reliable COVID-19 test.

This guidance is consistent with previously issued EEOC guidance.
