Keeping Waikiki Safe and Clean
The Waikiki Business Improvement District Association (WBIDA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating a clean, safe, and vibrant resort destination for everyone who comes to Waikiki – visitors, employees, and residents alike. For over 20 years, the WBIDA has worked diligently to Malama Waikiki (Care for Waikiki) through custodial maintenance, landscape maintenance, hospitality, safety, and outreach programs. These programs are based on the concept of stewardship, embodying the Hawaiian values of Aloha ʻAina (Love of the Land), Malama ʻAina (Care of the Land), Palekana (Safety/Safe Passage), and Hoʻokipa (Hospitality).
The WBIDA further supports the community through various partnerships, grants, and employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to regular employment.
With the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, the WBIDA pivoted to provide greater emphasis on cleaning and disinfecting high-touch assets, and expanded the Aloha Ambassador safety patrol. The WBIDA’s focus is to ensure Waikiki is safe and clean for residents and employees now, and for when we welcome back our visitors.
As we move towards reopening our economy, come visit Waikiki – to eat at our restaurants, stay at our hotels, and enjoy the various activities and entertainment options. And if you see a member of the Malama Waikiki Crew or an Aloha Ambassador in their safety green shirts, throw them a shaka. For more information, please visit www.waikikibid.org.
