This year, Hawaii Employers Council's virtual Annual Conference took place on Thursday, November 18, during Human Resources Professionals Week. We were so fortunate to have Governor David Ige declare November 14 - 20, 2021, as Human Resources Professionals Week to honor those who perform human resources functions in Hawaii. Click here for a PDF version of the proclamation.
In addition to unanimously approving the 2022 nominees for HEC's Board of Governors (listed below), Bonnie Pang, President & CEO of Hawaii Employers Council, provided her first annual report to the membership, Lori Fukumae, VP & Director of Membership Development recognized members celebrating 25 and 50 years of membership with HEC, as well as charter members.
Our Annual Conference concluded with a riveting discussion on the topic of employee recruitment and retention and why businesses are smart to think differently about who they’re looking to recruit to truly create a work culture that is diverse, equitable, inclusive and better skilled to meet the needs of today’s consumers. Watch the video to see what Ryan Masa of Assets School, Chad Nico Hiu of the YMCA of San Francisco, and Rona Yagi Fukumoto of Lanakila Pacific, have to share as to how Hawaii employers can play a role in creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce for all.
