The State House Committee on Labor & Tourism advanced House Bill 2510 with amendments earlier today. It will now head to the House Finance Committee for further deliberation and action.
The bill would make the state's earned income tax credit refundable and permanent and increase the minimum wage incrementally from 2023 through 2030 while also expanding the tip credit. Additionally, it increases and amends the refundable food/excise tax credit and amends the household and dependent care tax credit.
As part of the series of amendments, the Committee on Labor & Tourism chose to incorporate the formula to calculate future minimum wage increases found in House Bill 2408 and added $4 million to support an outreach campaign to educate low-wage earners about their withholding options and to provide support when completing their withholding forms.
Please stay tuned for additional updates.
