Key Takeaways from the 2023 Holiday Practices Survey

Published Monday, November 6, 2023 12:00 pm

The Holiday Practices Survey results provide valuable insights into how 148 organizations are approaching the upcoming holiday season. Here are some of the key findings and takeaways:

  • Holiday Eve Time-Off: Less than half of participating organizations will be providing paid time off for Christmas and/or New Year's Eve. However, there is a slight increase in the number of organizations offering full-day time off for these holidays.
  • Half-Staff Eve Scheduling: Over three-fourths of participating organizations do not plan to offer half-staff eve scheduling for their Monday-Friday work schedule workforce. However, there is a small decrease in the number of organizations that will be offering this option for both Christmas and New Year's Eve when compared to last year.
  • Holiday Party Practices: Over half of participating organizations will be having a holiday party this year, which is an increase from last year. Most of these parties will be held at an offsite location.
  • Alcoholic Beverages at Holiday Parties: Over half of the organizations having a holiday party will have alcoholic beverages available. The top three precautionary measures organizations will take include limiting the type of drinks available, instructing cocktail servers to monitor drinking, and limiting the time frame for serving alcohol.
  • Community/Charitable Giving: Nearly one-third of participating organizations will be participating in community/charitable giving this holiday season. This is a slight increase from last year.
